Palm Beach County is the core of the basic biomedical research community in Florida. Both County and Municipal governments in Palm Beach County support the development of the life sciences industry, as shown by the investment made by the Palm Beach Board of County Commissioners in Scripps Florida and Max Planck Florida Institute for Neuroscience. The State of Florida and Florida Atlantic University have partnered with the Board of County Commissioners to attract these two world-renowned research institutes that now have state-of-the-art facilities on FAU’s Jupiter campus.
Furthermore, several municipalities and Palm Beach County have adopted expedited permitting initiatives for life sciences companies and other targeted industry companies. Florida Atlantic University has been classified by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching as a “Research University-High Research Activity” institution.
